Downtown Loop multi-use path moves one step closer to completion

The 8.5-mile Downtown Loop project moved one step closer to completion this week.

On November 1, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and city staff gathered at the intersection of East Anderson Street and Sunglow Drive to celebrate progress on the Downtown Connector Path, which connects to the city’s Downtown Loop.

The 1.6-mile path closes a “gap” along East Anderson Street, from Summerlin Avenue to Lake Underhill Road.

During Tuesday’s gathering, Mayor Dyer helped pour and smooth 60 linear feet of concrete for the path, which will be completed by early 2023.

The project ties into a network of paths that loop through more than a dozen neighborhoods and the Orlando Urban Trail, Gertrude’s Walk, Lake Underhill Path, Bumby Path, and Cady Way Trail.

The entire Downtown Loop project is expected to be complete by the summer of 2025.
