Man who killed 4-year-old girl and three women, still in hospital, facing multiple murder counts

A 23-year-old man who killed a grandmother, her two daughters, and her 4-year-old granddaughter is still hospitalized with self-inflicted gunshot wounds and is facing multiple counts of first-degree murder.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office officials say they have issued five arrest warrants for Shavell Jones, who has been in the hospital since last Friday recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Jones is accused of shooting and killing a woman who he was in a relationship with, as well as three of her family members.

On Friday, November 4, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Myers Drive at around 4 a.m., after a woman suffering from gunshot wounds sought help from a neighbor.

According to police, Jones had been arguing with one of the women in the home and had begun moving his belongings out of the home. While he was moving items, Jones entered the home with a gun and began shooting the victims.

Upon arrival, deputies found the bodies of a 49-year-old grandmother, 28-year-old and 29-year-old daughters, and a 4-year-old granddaughter.

Jones’ shot another daughter of the grandmother in her 20s who fled the home and sought help at a neighbor’s house.

Two children ages, 4 and 6 years old, were able to hide under blankets during the incident. They were found unharmed in the home by police.

Police did not provide an update on Jones’ condition while he remains in the hospital, but have issued four warrants for first-degree murder and one for attempted first-degree murder.
